Illinois Overview

SUEZ Energy Resources received its state license from the Illinois Commerce Commission on June 7, 2005.

SUEZ Energy Resources is marketing in the 22 counties that are included in the ComEd service territory. This is a sizeable and sophisticated energy market, consisting of nearly 70% of the load in Illinois, or more than 12,000 MW peak load.

Until recently, the options available for energy, facility, purchasing and finance managers who make electricity decisions in this region have not been comparable to offerings in other regions.

Deregulation in Illinois

What happens when you choose a new electricity supplier:

  1. The new supplier notifies the old supplier and utility that you have changed suppliers.
  2. The new supplier transmits utility account information to the utility in order to enroll you as a customer.
  3. The utility confirms, by letter to you, of your new supplier selection and the date your new service begins.
  4. The actual change of supplier occurs on the meter reading date following a successful enrollment.
